Volunteer Opportunities

The City of El Lago has multiple boards and commissions that help serve our community. General volunteers are invaluable, and we are always on the lookout for those who would like to serve. Please complete our Volunteer Application Form (PDF)

Board of Adjustments – This board hears requests and can grant special exceptions from certain zoning regulations based on the impact to the city and fellow residents. Board of Adjustments Requirements & Duties (PDF)

Building Standards Committee – Ensures commercial and residential building standards are maintained to provide for personal safety and continuity of property value. Building Standards Committee Requirements & Duties (PDF) 

Parks Board – Oversight of grooming of city parks and entrances; recreational and playground equipment; report to City Council. Parks Board meets once per month. Parks Board Requirements & Duties (PDF)

Planning & Zoning Commission – Review of city zoning ordinances, plan for current and future development. Planning & Zoning Commission Requirements & Duties (PDF) 

Police Commission – Oversight of police department policies and budget Special Events Committee: Volunteers help to plan the city special events. Police Commission meets once per month; currently 1st Monday of the month. Police Commission Requirements & Duties (PDF)

Events Committee: The El Lago Events Committee is funded by the city and comprised of volunteers who coordinate and plan various free events for the citizens of El Lago. Our annual events typically include the Polar Plunge, Easter Egg Hunt, City Celebration, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Drive-in Movies, Movies in the Park and Caroling in the Park.
